STORY

Alex and Shelby’s love for each other has been steady and steadfast for 9 years.

Alex first met Shelby in high school, when she was accidentally placed in the wrong orchestra class with Alex. As Shelby imagines it, Alex whispered to the other violinist in his section “Who is that beautiful girl?” and from there he quickly friended her on Facebook - unknowingly beginning our intertwined future together. Their first date was to Bubble Island in Houston, TX on a rare snowy day in 2010. As Alex imagines it, it must not have been a very good date because a few months afterwards, Alex was broken up with in what he now says was a transformative break up that never allowed him to date anyone else. However, history books, as well as our social media timelines, detail a different story where we did in fact move on to other relationships in our lives while staying close friends.

It would take almost four more years until Shelby could work up the courage to tell Alex her true feelings, beyond friendship, and for Alex to finally put a muffler on his vehicle (reversing a decision he says is quite embarrassing) - and it wasn’t much later until ‘I love you’.
